Fly Fishing in Maine

Native Brook Trout Fishing in Maine

Today most of the brook trout fishing is done with flies. Although we do catch some while trolling and fishing with bait on the lakes, most are taken while fly fishing the streams and ponds that in the area. A few years back more restrictive regulations were established by our biologist. This was accomplished by raising minim size requirements and establishing slot limits. As a result of this action we are now taking much larger Brook Trout. Today, depending on water fished, one can expect to take trout in the 12 to 16 inch range and every year fish have been taken over 20 inches.
